International organizations in the field of environmental protection

The growing interest of the international community to the problems of the

operating system after the Second World War found its expression not only in strengthening the direct international cooperation, carrying out a large number of political, socio-economic, scientific and technical forums, on sacred certain aspects of interaction between society and nature, but also in the increasing number, increased activity and expansion of the competence of international organizations. Such organizations can combine environmental performance of all States concerned, regardless of their political positions, in a certain way isolating and emphasizing environmental problems of the totality of political, economic and other international issues. On the basis of the spatial terms of reference or subject-territorial organization of different global and regional (sub-regional).

An important role in the field of environmental protection play and actively

engaged in the organization of research environment and its resources, the specialized agencies of the UN.

UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), founded in 1945, already in the first years of operation support research initiatives and public nature conservation movement. The most famous of environmental focus in the activities of UNESCO is the research program " Man and Biosphere" (MAB), adopted in 1970 at the XVI General Conference of the organization. For the implementation of the MAB program have already begun about 100 countries.

FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture), formed in October 1945, it is a specialized agency of the UN and concerned with food resources and time development of agriculture in order to improve the living conditions of the peoples of the world. In accordance with their competence, it draws attention to the protection and rational use of land, water, forests and other vegetation, wildlife land, biological resources of the oceans and seas. FAO is involved in more than 100 nature protection programs at the global, regional and national levels.

Concern about the health of people - the main goal of the WHO (World Health Organization), which is always associated with environmental protection. WHO has been collecting and disseminating environmental information related to the health of people involved in research, providing technical assistance, carries out international monitoring of environmental pollution.

WMO (World Meteorological Organization) was founded in 1951 as a specialized agency of the United Nations. Of environmental functions by WMO relate primarily to a global environmental monitoring. It carries out activities to assess the atmospheric pollution by various substances, and from different sources, assessment of trans boundary transport of pollutants, their global distribution in the lower atmosphere and on the study of action on the ozone layer of the earth.
