International Bryological Conference Dedicated to the100 anniversary of Roman Nikolaevich Schljakov Dear colleagues, As announced earlier, the International Bryological Conference dedicated to the100 anniversary of Roman Nikolaevich Schljakov will be held at the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute (Kirovsk, Murmansk Prov.) on 24-26th June 2012. The Organizing Committee has registered more than 50 participants from Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Latvia, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Denmark, Great Britain, Portugal, India, and Korea. We appreciate your interest in the scientific heritage of R.N. Schljakov and will be happy to see you in our institute! The working languages of the conference will be Russian and English, but English is preferable during the sessions and discussions. The posters and computer presentations should be in English. During the Conference we plan an excursion to the Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden (on the arrival day - 24th June 2012). All field excursions will be provided in the framework of the field scientific school for early-stage researchers «Bryophytes of Subarctic». It will be held in Polar-Alpine Botanical Garden-Institute (Kirovsk, Murmansk Prov.) on 27-30th June 2012. Accommodation All participants will be accommodated in the hotel “Isovella” (Apatity, Murmansk Prov.). There are quite comfortable rooms for two or three persons. The price for one person varies from 550 to 750 rubles RUS (at present 1$= ca. 30 rubles RUS and 1euro= ca. 40 rubles RUS). Each participant can pay the accommodation at the hotel registration desk and get all documents. At the same time, it is possible to order breakfast (150 rubles RUS), lunch (200 rubles RUS) and dinner (150 rubles RUS) in the hotel’s cafe.
The registration fee is 1000 rubles RUS and includes the programs, abstract volume, coffee breaks, the welcome party (24th June), and excursion to the Botanical Garden. Information on the payment procedure will be provided later. The conference dinner (25 or 26th June) will cost approximately 1000 rubles RUS (should be paid additionally). Presentations: Plenary presentations are expected to last 30 min, including replies to the questions. Section presentations should last 20 min, including replies to the questions. PowerPoint presentations are advised for demonstration via PC. Posters: The poster should be easily read in English and high profile should be given for illustrations. The size should be 90x120 cm. (portrait). Posters will be mounted in the morning of 25 June so that all the participants may see them in free time between the sections. At special poster session, the authors will be expected to explain briefly the topic of their poster. Abstracts: The abstract submission is prolongated till 15th April 2012. Abstracts must be submitted electronically by 15th April 2012. Due to the limited conference time, we reserve the right to advise some oral presentations at the poster session. The Conference Committee expects to make these decisions after receiving all abstracts by 30th April 2012. Notifications will be sent by e-mail. Abstracts in MS Word for Windows format must be submitted by e-mail: bryo.kpabgi@list.ru. Russian participants will be kindly asked to submit abstracts in two languages: the short communication of 250 words in English and the expanded text in Russian. For foreign participants only English abstracts are welcomed. Totally, the abstract should be not longer than 1 page. Authors are recommended to avoid using abbreviations in the text, footnotes, tables, figures, references. There are some requirements to the text: Times New Roman, size 13 pt, line spacing 1.0, all margins 2 cm, paragraph indent 1 cm, aligned by width.
