Railway managerial ^engineering prepares specialists on the management of stations and branches (branch -отделение) of railways, control of technological processes of marshalling (to marshall - сорти-ровать) devices and cargo facilities (facilities -зд. хозяйство).

Construction and transportation machines prepares mechanical engineers on designing (to design - проектировать), construction and maintenance (operation - зд. эксплуатация) of machines and equipment of the widest purpose: lifting and transporting devices, equipment of the widest spectrum: lift/transport machines, road, construction machines.

Enterprise economics and management prepares economists, accountants, having the knowledge of marketing, basic commerce and foreign economical activities. Railway is a complex structural branch of the economy including maintenance enterprises, specialized car repairing and locomotive repairing plants, transportation machines. Market economy demands to train economists-managers able not only to understand all slyness of market economy but also to take independent decisions, based on the technology knowledge. That's why there is a wide range of technical disciplines for them to learn.

Automation and telecommunication facilities of railway vehicles is one of the most complicated and in-teresting branches in the railway transport. Lately it has been developing on the basis of the latest achievements in microelectronic and microprocessor technologies, which explains the ever growing demand for new trained specialists (квалифицированные кадры). There are 4 specializations within this speciality. The engineers deal with technical systems. The automatically read up information made either by people or by devices is transferred to the trains and operation stations in the systems of automatics. The most responsible tasks of traffic safety is carried out with technical means on electromagnetic relay or micro-electronic devices.

Information systems in technology is one of the most advanced railway branches. Among various recent trends in the engineering professions computerization is the most widespread. The trend in modern engi-neering offices is also towards computerization. Computers are increasingly used for solving complex problemsas well as for handling; storing and generating the enormous volume of data modern engineers must work in. The objects of the professional activity of this speciality are information nets and systems, their mathematical, information and program software, design ways and techniques, the production and maintenance of software.

Wagons and coaches and their maintenance prepares specialists in the sphere of designing, mainte-nance, repairing and modernization of wagons, coaches and specialized cars. They run carriage repairing depots and shops. The peculiarity of this specialization is that students get a through course of training in all information, economical, general engineering and specialized subjects.

Railway electric transport. The graduates of this speciality are engaged in electric maintenance and re-pairing. The power of an electric locomotive providing traction for one train may attain tens of thousands kilowatts. There is practically no limit to the energy to be taken by the locomotive from the catenary. Electric locomotive is the most complicated system being in constant interaction with other adjacent de-vices. Under electrification the maintenance and operation costs are relatively cheap. Another benefit is the ability of electrics to haul very long and heavy trains. So this speciality is very promising.

Railways Power supply. Electrification is the basis of economical development, and the electric traction is the most advanced one. Electrical trunk lines take 1/3 part of the railways length but it carries out 2/3 of total traffic volume due to its usage on the most heavily used and responsible trunk lines.

Software of the computing technique and automation systems. Computer technologies and control and management systems are intensely introduced into railways. The development and maintenance of such systems demands trained specialists both in railway technology and programming technology.
