Ex. 1. Use Present Simple or Present Continuous. Translate into Russian.

A: Why you (not to finish) your homework and come and watch TV?

B: Because I (not to understand) it. It is too difficult.

A: Why you (not to ask) your teacher to explain it?

B: Because I (not to like) him.

A: And why don’t you like him?

B: Well, he always(to shout) at me.

A: Why he (to shout) at you?

B: Well, I (not work) in class and I (not do) my homework.

A: Well, no wonder he (to shout)at you. Give me your book now.

We’ll try and do it together.

 

 

Ex. 2. Use one of the Present tenses. Translate into Russian.

 

1. Whom you (to wait) for? I (to wait) for Tom. You

(to wait) for him long? Yes, I (to wait) for him for about half an hour.

2. What you (to translate)? I (to translate) an article. How long (to translate) it? I (to translate) it for an hour.

3. I (to translate) five or six articles a week.

4. Don’t go out. It is raining. It has been raining since early

morning.

6. I just (to finish) making my dress.

 

 

Ex. 3. Поставьте глаголы, стоящие в скобках, в зависимости от смысла, в Present Simple, Present Continuous, Present Perfect или Present Perfect Continuous. Translate into Russian.

 

1. My brother (to be) in hospital. He (to be) there for ten days.

2. Jack (to teach) French. He (to be) a very experienced teacher. He (to teach) French for 15 years.

3. I (to know) Peter well. Since when (to know) him? I (to know) him

since 1940.

 

Ex. 4. Поставьте глаголы, стоящие в скобках, в зависимости

От смысла, в Present Perfect или Past Indefinite.

Translate into Russian.

A: How long you (to have) your car?

B: I (to have) it since Christmas. I (to buy) it from my uncle.

A: You (to see) that film before?

B: Yes, I (to see) it when I (to be) in London.

A: How long you (to be) ill?

B: I (to be) ill since I (to eat) that meal.

A: When Ann (to move) into her new house?

B: She (to move) in a month ago. I (not to visit) her yet, but I

(to arrange) to meet her this week.

 

 

Ex. 5. Put the verbs in brackets into Past Simple or Present Perfect.

Translate into Russian.

 

A: I already (to make) the beds and I just (to sweep) the floor, but

I (not to start) the ironing yet.

B: Don’t worry. I (to do) it yesterday.

A: How long ago you (to begin) painting?

B: Ten years ago. I recently (to complete) a painting that the

National Gallery asked me to do a year ago.

A: Why are you so happy?

B: I just (to pass) my driving test!

A: You always (to have) long hair, Julie?

B: No, when I was young my hair (to be) very short.

 

Ex. 6. Постройте следующие предложения в вопросительной и отрицательной форме.Translate into Russian.

 

 

1. I have already told you about it twice.

2. My watch has stopped.

3. At last the taxi has stopped near the porch of a big house.

4. You have written this exercise very bad.
