CONDITIONAL SENTENCES (type 3) We use if + past perfect + would have + past participle for unreal situations in the past. if clause Main clause past perfect would have + past participle
We imagine a condition or situation in the past which was impossible or didn't happen. ► If had looked,... (but you didn't look)
When the if clause comes first, we usually use a comma (,) after it. We can also put the main clause first. ► I wouldn’t have knocked it off the table if you hadn't thrown the ball so high.

We use may or might + infinitive without to to talk about something that is possible now or in the future. Both mean 'perhaps'. ► We may be able to stick it. (= Perhaps we can stick it.) She might not notice. (= Perhaps she will not notice.)
