A.

Tom: Hmm … Do I need anything? I need a lot of things. Vegetables, potatoes …

Hello Jane! Come in! How was your day?

Jane: Excellent! I lovethis job. It’s interesting. I have a lot of responsibilities, my

co-workers are great and I’m having a wonderful time.

Tom: Don’t you miss teaching?

Jane: Hmm… no. I liked teaching very much, as you know, but I wanted to do something else. I wanted to do something else. I wanted to move on. I made the right decision. I really believe that. And … don’t forget that I need to live in Boston.

Tom: I see your point.

Jane: What are you doing? Making a grocery list? You wanted to cook tonight!

That’s wonderful! I’d love to cook together!

Tom: Actually, I wanted to invite you to a very little restaurant that I found on the other side of the town …

Jane: Oh no! Let’s stay in. Do you want to make lasagna? What we need? We need oil, onions, garlic, tomatoes, pepper, salt, mushrooms, oregano, basil, cheese and ground beef.

Tom: I have everything except mushrooms and ground beef.

Jane: Then let’s leave out the ground beef, forget about the mushrooms, and have vegetarian lasagna. We’ll cook it together. And we won’t even go out of the house!

Tom: Now, that’s good idea!

B.

Waiter: Do you have a reservation?

Ann: Yes, I think so.

Waiter: For how many people?

Ann: It’s a table for two, but it’s not in my name.

Bob: Hi, Ann!

Ann: Excuse me. Hi, Bob! Did you make a reservation for us?

Bob: No, I didn’t, but I think Kristin did. Is our table ready?

Waiter: There’s one available near the window and one next to the fireplace.

Bob: The fireplace … That sounds perfect!

Ann: What would you recommend? What’s the house speciality?

Waiter: The halibut with balsamic sauce is delicious tasty, and salad “The delicate”.

Bob: Well, what wine do you recommend to go with fish?

Waiter: Of course, only vintage wine. For example, white wine “The Monarch’s

Chapel” in 1975.

Bob: With pleasure. I think it’s very tasty.

Waiter: Enjoy!

C.

Mary: Hello, you’re early this morning, Charles. It’s only a quarter to eight.

Charles: Ye-e-a. I’m going to be in time for the first lecture today.

Mary: I’m delighted to hear that. You’ve been late twice this week.

Charles: That’s no business of yours.

Mary: Have you passed your test in French? You’d better dig into your studies.

The exams start next week.

Charles: Please, stop nagging me at this time of the day. Mind your own business.

And if you want to hear, I’ve made good progress in French.

Mary: You didn’t say!

Charles: Can you cook up a simple egg dish for us right now?

Mary: OK. Will you crush the juice from oranges? And don’t eat chocolate. It will

spoil your appetite for breakfast.

Charles: This chocolate melts in the mouth. It’s delicious.

Mary: You should cut down on sweets and chocolate.

Charles: I’m dying with hunger. Will you pass me the butter, please?

Mary: Here it is.

Charles: Honestly, I must hurry. Will you clear off the table?

Mary: All right.

Charles: I’ll be late tonight. I’ve got a date with Jane. Bye!
