IV. Find derivatives in the text. Notice how they are used. Derive adverbs from the following, make up sentences with the derivatives.






Slow, fierce, vital, sudden, quick, usual, beautiful, fair, exact.

 

V Find one word to express the meaning in each sentence.

1. Something that cannot be seen or hidden from sight.

2. To bring or put into use or operation.

3. Strong or great, esp. in quality or feeling; extreme.

4. Very necessary; of the greatest importance.

5. A small bit of burning material thrown out by fire or by striking together two hard objects.

6. To take in one’s breath suddenly, esp. because of surprise or shock.

VI. Answer the questions.

VII. Complete the following sentence using the text.

I. Look up the following words and expressions in the dictionary and find them in the text.

 

Encounter, mangle, pluck, hover, surge, stammer, twinkle, resume, cheeky, apprehensive, slimy, tense, elated, sensational, triumphant, bewildered, invisible.

III. Fill in the blanks with articles and prepositions wherever necessary.

IV. Give English equivalents
