Day 02: Kathmandu Tour






Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.On reaching at Kathmandu international airport via respective airlines and countries, received by Foot and Shadows Walking Holiday staff and transfer to hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed. Evening company provide welcome dinner in typical Nepali restaurant with cultural dance show program. Our tour guide or company representative will explain about your program in evening time. Overnight hotel in Kathmandu. (Dinner Included).

Day 02: Kathmandu Tour

After breakfast our city guide take you on sightseeing tour at places of interest as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites with temples, monasteries, Stupa and old king’s palace after an enjoyable interesting tour back to hotel, preparation for Everest Base Camp trekking.

Pashupatinath Temple: - Pashupatinath temple is one of the is a famous, sacred Hindu temple in the world. Pashupatinath temple is located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Pashupatinath temple serves as the seat of the national deity, Lord Pashupatinath. This temple is on UNESCO World Heritage Sites’ list since 1979. One of the major Festivals of the Pashupatinath temple is Maha Shiva Ratri, Bala chaturthi and Teej on which day uncountable devotees visit the Pashupatinath temple. Pashupatinath temple is one of the oldest hindu temple in Kathmandu. Pashupatinath Temple's existence dates back to 400 B.C. The richly-ornamented pagoda houses the sacred linga or holy symbol of Lord Shiva. According to Gopalraj Vamsavali, the oldest ever chronicle in Nepal, this temple was built by Supuspa Deva, a Linchchhavi King, who according to the stone inscription erected by Jayadeva 11 in the courtyard of Pashupatinath in 753 AD, happened to be the ruler 39 generations before Manadeva (464-505 AD).

Boudhanath Stupa: - Boudhanath Stupa is the one of the largest ancient Stupa is one of the world. The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries) around Boudhanath. As of 1979, Boudhanath Stupa is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bauddhanath stupa was built just after the demise of Lord Buddha and is the largest single Chhorten in the world. Many kilograms of gold were used in the decoration of the holy building. The legend of its building begins with one person: Boudhanath stupa is one of the holy place of Buddhist people it is believed that thousands of Buddhas and heavenly Deities incarnated as Lamas in the Baudha stupa It is said that because of Rabne, the rays of Bodhisattvas entered in the song from heaven and the holy sound of was heard in the sky.

Swyambhunath or (Monkey Temple): - Swyambhunath Stupa is an ancient religious architecture atop a hill in the Kathmandu valley is lies west side of Kathmandu city. Swyambhunath stupa is probably the most sacred among Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Swyambhunath stupa has Buddha's eyes and eyebrows painted on. In swyambhunath area we found many varieties of trees on the hill, there are also shops, restaurants. According to Swayambhu Purana the entire valley was once filled with an enormous lake, out of which grew a lotus. The valley came to be known as Swayambhu meaning is " Self-Created. Each morning before dawn hundreds of Buddhist (Vajrayana) and Hindu pilgrims ascend the 365 steps from eastern side that lead up the hill, passing the gilded Vajra (Tibetan: Dorje) and two lions guarding the entrance, and begin a series of clockwise circumambulations of the Swyambhunath stupa. Swayambhunath is among the oldest religious sites in Nepal Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple as there are holy monkeys living in around swyambhunath temple.

Kathmandu Durbar Square: - Kathmandu Darbar square is the one of the Ancient palaces of Mall and Shah Kings who ruled over the city. Old Durbar palace of the former Kathmandu Kingdom is one of three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Kathmandu Durbar square surrounds quadrangles, revealing courtyards and temples. It is known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square, a name derived from a statue of Hanuman, the monkey devotee of Lord Ram, at the entrance of the palace. palaces courtyards and temples was built between the 12th and 18th centuries, When Kathmandu City became independent under the rule of King Ratna Malla (1484–1520), the palaces in the square became the Royal Palaces for its Malla Kings. When Prithvi Narayan Shah invaded the Kathmandu Valley in 1769, he favored the Kathmandu Durbar Square for his palace. Other subsequent Shah kings continued to rule from the square until 1896 when they moved to the Narayan Hiti Palace. Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the most curious attractions in Nepal, the Kumari Chok. This gilded cage contains the Raj Kumari, a girl chosen through an ancient and mystical selection process to become the human incarnation of the Hindu mother goddess, Durga.
