VC mechanism troubleshooting






INSUFFICIENT POWER AT LOW AND MID SPEED

 

 

Shafts are not on low speed side.  
   
 

 

Start engine and check if two rocker arm shafts are on low speed side during idling.

Electrical system failure

• Oil control actuator (solenoid) failure

• Igniter failure

- Rocker arm shaft operation failure

• Foreign substance sticking, dent or

scratch

• Rack & pinion improperly set

• Sub rocker arm play improperly adjusted

 

VC actuator operation failure

• Insufficient oil pressure from engine

• Oil pipe 0-ring damaged

Actuator piston not sliding properly Improper valve clearance adjustment

(TAPPET NOISE TOO LOUD

Check if tappet clearance and sub rocker arm play are within specification.
